Thessaloniki court rejects Italian extradition request for Greek students

A Thessaloniki appeals court has upheld an appeal by two Greek students against their extradition to Italy where they are alleged to have wreaked damage during the Expo 2015 protests.

The court upheld the appeal by the two students following an eight-hour session on Thursday and was to consider the appeals of another three Greek men being sought by the Italian authorities on the same charges on Friday and Monday.

The offenses the five men have been charged with by Italian authorities carry prison sentences of between eight and 15 years.
