Two-day strike to keep Greek ferries at anchor

There will be no ferry services across Greece on Wednesday and Thursday due to a 48-hour strike called by the Panhellenic Seamen’s Union (PNO).

The union is protesting a draft law penned by the government which stipulates that social security funds for workers in the shipping and maritime transport sectors are to merge into one national insurance body, EFKA.

Employees working on ferries transporting refugees and migrants will also participate in the two-day strike.

PNO called on its members to participate in a rally at Piraeus port at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
