Top officials in the Greek civil service will earn gross salaries of between approximately 1,500 and 4,600 euros per month, according to the new wage structure set out in a circular issued by Alternate Finance Minister Giorgos Houliarakis on Wednesday.
The basic salary for general secretaries at ministries will be 3,231 euros per month. This could rise to 4,631 euros a month if a so-called “responsibility subsidy” is paid. Deputy general secretaries will take home a minimum of 2,800 euros.
Non-permanent staff, such as advisers hired to various government departments, will earn from 1,697 to 2,154 euros per month.
