No ferries until Saturday as sailors extend action

The Panhellenic Seamen’s Union (PNO), which has been holding rolling strikes for several weeks, on Thursday extended its action, calling a new 48-hour walkout which will keep ferries docked in the country’s ports until 6 a.m. Saturday.
Passengers due to travel Saturday should check ahead with the ferry companies they have booked with as the disruption is likely to lead to changes in the scheduled departure times.
PNO has protracted its action to protest the government’s plan for pension reform, which Greek officials are currently discussing with creditor envoys, and has threatened to ratchet up its opposition when the legislation setting out the details of pension reform is submitted to Parliament in the coming weeks.
