Body of navy chopper captain recovered

The remains of the captain of a Hellenic Navy helicopter which crashed on the islet of Kinaros, in the eastern Aegean on Thursday, has been recovered, authorities announced. The body of Anastasios Toulitsis, 36, was discovered at 11.30 a.m. on Friday.

Another two Greek naval airmen, co-pilot Constantinos Pananas, 34 and radar operator Eleftherios Evangelou, 35, died in the crash. Their remains were recovered on Thursday.

The Agusta Bell 212 chopper crashed into a hillside on the islet located between the island of Leros and Amorgos.

A panel of experts was investigating the causes of the crash which occurred at 2.45 a.m. on Thursday.
