National Library battles red tape

All we know about the new National Library is its location on Mesogeion Avenue near the Sotiria Hospital. There is a considerable amount of red tape and other business to deal with before it can be built. The Army Headquarters currently using the site must be relocated and an architectural competition be held before work can start. The most optimistic predictions do not see the project being ready before 2006. The library will take up a space of 18,000 square meters which will enable it to include the latest technology. In terms of public transport, the new location is ideal, with easy access from two metro stations.
