Thessaloniki mayor criticizes bishop for ‘creating problems’
Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris slammed the bishop of the northern port city, Anthimos, over an event organized by Thessaloniki Cathedral earlier in the month titled “We are Christians, we are Greeks.”
Speaking at a municipal meeting on Monday, Boutaris commented that “if politics is not separated from the power of the Church, there will always be an Anthimos creating problems.”
The mayor also criticized Piraeus Bishop Seraphim for his views.
