Justice minister seeks ways of speeding up some cases
Justice Minister Nikos Paraskevopoulos is expected to meet with Supreme Court head Vassiliki Thanou on Wednesday, as well as the presidents of the Athens and Piraeus bar associations, Vasilis Alexandris and Giorgos Stamatogiannis respectively, to discuss the issue of speeding up major trials involving a large number of defendants.
Meanwhile, striking lawyers are expected to picket outside the Justice Ministry on Thursday as part of their ongoing action against the government’s planned reforms in social security.
The strike is expected to continue through Monday.
