Center-left leaders disagree over whether to include SYRIZA in talks

Former Prime Minister George Papandreou has given a positive response to PASOK leader Fofi Gennimata’s call for center and center-left parties to engage in a discussion that could lead to them cooperating.

However, the ex-PASOK chief said that SYRIZA should also be invited to take part in the talks.

Gennimata, who sent the invitation to Papandreou, who founded the Movement of Democratic Socialists (Kinima) in January 2014, and Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis, insisted that SYRIZA should not be part of the discussion.

“I will try speak with Mr Papandreou so I can explain that this is not on the table,” she told Mega TV on Saturday.

“Our proposal is about how to revive the area that lies between SYRIZA and New Democracy. Alexis Tsipras is not a social democrat, he is not from the center-left.”
