Student parade marks Greek independence day
Students enrolled at schools located in the Athens A constituency on Thursday took part in the annual parade on Syntagma Square marking the March 25, 1821 anniversary of Greek independence from Turkish rule.
Leading the parade were students from the Evsevios Kipourgos high school in Kalavryta, in the Peloponnese, the town where the flag of the revolution was raised in 1821.
Also taking part in Thursday’s parade were delegations from the Scouts of Greece, the Greek Guiding Association and Greece’s Special Olympics team as well as students attending the school for the deaf and the hard of hearing in Argyroupolis, southern Athens.
The annual military parade marking March 25 Independence Day in Athens will take place on Friday.
