Con man fleeced targets by promising EU subsidies
A man was arrested in Thessaloniki on Friday accused of collecting fees totaling some 75,000 euros from people to organize seminars he falsely claimed were sponsored by the European Union under the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF).
According to authorities, the 53-year-old, who also has a criminal record for fraud-related cases, was active from 2014 to early 2016 and targeted at least eight businessmen with the promise that he would help them – in exchange for a fee – to benefit from the NSRF and secure better terms to pay off their business loans.
