Two charged in contraband tobacco seizure
Two people have been charged with attempting to illegally smuggle 61 kilos of contraband tobacco from Agrinio to Volos, local authorities said Tuesday.
The two suspects, a 34-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, were accused of packaging the tobacco into three cardboard boxes and storing it at Agrinio’s main bus station with the intention of transporting them to Volos.
Following a tip-off, police located the boxes at the bus station’s warehouse before they were delivered to their intended destination. The case file will be submitted to a prosecutor in Agrinio.
