Police investigate Afghan killing at Pedion tou Areos park
Police on Tuesday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing of a 50-year-old Afghan national by a 30-year-old Iranian man at the Pedion tou Areos park near central Athens on Monday night.
A preliminary probe into the scuffle, which is believed to have been provoked by a drug deal gone wrong, indicated Tuesday that both the victim and the perpetrator had been residing at a reception center for refugees at the site of the capital’s old airport in Elliniko.
