Two killed, three badly injured in Arta crash

Two women were killed and three people, including a child aged 6, were badly injured in a crash between two vehicles on the outskirts of Arta in northwestern Greece in the early hours of Tuesday, police reported.

The crash occurred just before 1.30 a.m. when two cars collided head-on. One was being driven by a 65-year-old woman and carrying three elderly passengers, and the other by a 35-year-old man carrying his wife and two children, aged 3 and 6.

Rescue crews called to the scene recovered the bodies of the 65-year-old driver of the first vehicle and a 63-year-old woman who was riding in the front passenger seat. The other two passengers, men aged 66 and 69, were badly injured and are in hospital.

Also being treated for severe injuries is the 6-year-old child from the second car. The father, mother and 3-year-old suffered minor injuries and are under medical observation.
