Cretan police detain serial bagsnatcher
A 37-year-old man believed to be behind at least 17 muggings in the broader area of Iraklio, Crete, faced a prosecutor on Sunday on multiple theft charges.
The suspect was arrested by members of the police’s motorcycle-riding squad DIAS who found 2,700 euros in cash in his home, as well as a large number of cell phones, sunglasses and other valuables.
It was unclear whether the bagsnatcher used violence against his victims.
