International Peace Marathon to cause traffic disruptions on Sunday

Streets linking the ancient site of Marathon Tomb northeast of Athens and the Defense Ministry just a few kilometers north of the capital’s center will be closed on Sunday to make way for the 36th installment of the International Peace Marathon, an initiative raising awareness about war and strife around the world.
The Greek Police on Friday issued a circular warning motorists that they should avoid parking or driving along major thoroughfares Marathon and Mesogeion avenues for the duration of the event, from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on Sunday.
The thoroughfares will be closed off in phases, according to the progress of the event.
