Slowdown in migrant arrivals continues on Saturday

Migrant flows to islands in the northern Aegean have dropped significantly in recent weeks with just 14 new arrivals on Saturday – eight on Samos and six on Lesvos.

The decreased flows are largely due to the March deal between the EU and Turkey to contain the number of asylum seekers entering Europe from Turkey.

According to the latest data, there are 7,091 migrants and refugees stranded at hot spots in the northern Aegean. More specifically, there are 3,767 on Lesvos, 2,418 on Chios and 906 on Samos.
