Primary school teachers call strike for June 8

Primary school teachers are to strike on June 8 in protest at the government’s plans to scrap primary schools with late closing hours as part of its efforts to save money to cover teacher shortages.
The DOE teachers’ union on Thursday accused the government of “having decided to demolish free public education.”
The state hospital workers’ union, POEDIN, has called a 24-hour strike for the same day to protest state cutbacks and the government’s pension reform.
