Psycharis relieved of having to testify in funding probe

Parliament’s transparency and ethics committee, which is conducting an investigation into the funding of political parties and media organizations, on Wednesday voted to relieve the media magnate Stavros Psycharis, 71, from having to testify in the probe due to his fragile health.

The decision by the committee came after Psycharis – head of the Lambrakis Press Group (DOL), which owns Ta Nea newspaper, among others – submitted a letter saying he is suffering from Parkinson’s disease and that he has recently undergone heart surgery.
