Driver held after fatal crash in southern Athens

An 18-year-old motorist was being questioned by police on Friday after hitting three women with his vehicle at a bus stop in Aghios Dimitrios, southern Athens, killing one, aged 25, and leaving the other two, both aged 30, with minor injuries.

The exact circumstances leading to the incident remained unclear but it appears the 18-year-old lost control of his car while driving at high speed.

It was unclear if he had been drinking or was under the influence of drugs.
