SYRIZA accused of lining member’s pockets with migrant food handouts

The government has come under a hail of criticism from the opposition after a SYRIZA lawmaker, Afroditi Stampouli, admitted that Dimitris Tapas, a fellow party member, who works for the Regional Authority of Serres, had along with his daughter undertaken a 750,000-euro contract to feed refugees, housed in a reception center in the region.

New Democracy and PASOK lodged a question in Parliament, accusing the leftist-led coalition of handing out public money to its “own people,” while To Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis described SYRIZA as a “regime that has lost all contact with reality.”

The government has yet to respond to the accusations.
