Ex-PASOK fund manager faces criminal charges

An Athens prosecutor Thursday brought criminal charges of breach of faith and fraud against Rovertos Spyropoulos, the former head of the Social Security Foundation (IKA) who was responsible for the finances of the PASOK party when George Papandreou was prime minister (2009-11).

The charges were brought against Spyropoulos after accountants probing the party’s finances between 2004 and 2012 submitted their findings to prosecutors.

The investigation is said to have discovered serious irregularities in the management of the party’s funds though Spyropoulos is not facing charges of embezzlement.
