Violent Cretan faces prosecutor

A 56-year-old Cretan man faced a prosecutor Thursday after allegedly assaulting a 40-year-old Bulgarian woman in the cafe where she works in the port of Iraklio with an iron bar and later attacking her son in her home.

A police search on the suspect’s home turned up a hunting rifle, a bow and 10 arrows and four small swords.

He faces charges of causing bodily harm and illegal possession of weapons.
