Man dies in accident at Amfissa bauxite mine
A 56-year-old bauxite miner was killed on Thursday after being crushed by a boulder in the central Greek region of Amfissa.
The accident occurred while he was operating a vehicle in a mine shaft operated by the Delphi-Distomon company.
The man was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The contractor, an engineer and the foreman were arrested, and an investigation was launched to establish a cause for the accident.
The local labor center said that the part of the shaft where the incident occurred did not adhere to the necessary safety standards.
