N17 policing to close roads as strikes disrupt transport services

Motorists are advised to avoid the city center Thursday as 4,000 police officers are to be deployed as events get under way to commemorate the anniversary of a student uprising against Greece’s junta in 1973.

Services on the Athens metro, tram and electric railway (ISAP) will be subject to disruptions from Friday as staff demanding job security hold rolling walkouts. There will be no services from noon to 4 p.m.

Next Monday, November 21, there will be no service before 10 a.m., on Wednesday there will be no service from noon to 4 p.m. on the metro and tram while ISAP will run as normal.

Next Thursday there will be no service on ISAP after 9 p.m., next Friday services will be suspended on the metro and tram before 10 a.m. and next Saturday ISAP will stop at 9 p.m.
