Greek PM raps ‘vindictive policies’ in Europe

As Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi resigned following his referendum defeat, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras called for greater political and economic solidarity among member states of the European Union.

“Europe cannot move forward solely on the basis of vindictive policies,” Tsipras said during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Athens on Monday.

The leftist premier also urged European governments to support the efforts of the Greek people and help reach a solution to the migrant and financial crises.

“[The Greek people] have made big sacrifices in the name of Europe,” he said.
