Syrian arrested for beating toddler at Chios camp
Authorities have arrested a Syrian asylum-seeker accused of abusing a three-year old toddler at Souda camp on the eastern Aegean island of Chios.
The 31-year-old, who is believed to be the father of the boy, was nabbed after footage of him beating the three-year-old inside a shower was shared on social media. It was not clear who or why filmed the incident.
Authorities are investigating the incident. The boy was handed over to a nongovernment organization which is active in protecting underage children.
