Human Rights Day observed
Amnesty International staged a mock torture session outside the old Athens University building in the city center yesterday night, to mark Human Rights Day. Meanwhile, the Greek branch of Amnesty accused Greece of forcibly returning 34 Iraqi, Kurdish and Afghan illegal immigrants to Turkey on December 3 without letting them seek refugee status first. The Supreme Court decided that these laws contravened the Greek constitution, the United Nations Charter and the European Convention on Human Rights.
