Constantine Mitsotakis ‘shaped’ nation’s modern history, Greek PM says

The death Constantine Mitsotakis marks the end of an era in the nation’s political history, left-wing Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has said while describing the late conservative politician as a man that “shaped modern Greece.”
“[Mitsotakis] was one of the main protagonists of [Greece’s] modern political history and made a decisive contribution in consolidating democracy and the country’s European course in the post-dictatorship years (metapolitefsi),” Tsipras said in a statement, while extending his condolences to the late politician’s family and relatives, as well as the conservative party.
A patriarch of one of Greece's most influential political families, Mitsotakis was prime minister of Greece from 1990 to 1993. He died in the early hours of Monday aged 98.
