Union seeks better conditions for delivery, courier workers

The union representing private sector employees in Greece, known by its acronym GSEE, on Friday called for an improvement in the working conditions of food delivery employees and couriers following the death earlier this week of a 28-year-old delivery worker in a crash with a truck in Larissa.

GSEE called for an end to “labor conditions reminiscent of the Middle Ages,” noting that the lack of protection offered to workers in the delivery sector was the main reason for the high incidence of worksite accidents.

Last Thursday couriers and delivery workers went on strike, complaining that most are underpaid and lack insurance.
