Pegasus media group and lenders to be charged

The head of the Athens court of first instance, Ilias Zagoraios, is preparing to bring criminal charges against employees of the Pegasus media group and three major Greek banks which are alleged to have granted Pegasus millions of euros in loans without adequate guarantees and to have allowed the loans to remain unserviced.

More than 20 employees of National Bank, Alpha Bank and Piraeus Bank, who had been on the loan approval committees of those lenders, are implicated in the affair and face charges of breach of faith.

They are alleged to have granted Pegasus some 160 million euros in loans in 2006 and in the period between 2013 and 2014.
