New Turkish violations of Greek airspace

Four Turkish fighter jets violated Greek national air space in the northeastern and southeastern Aegean twice Friday afternoon. The four F-16s also violated the Athens Flight Information Region. The Turkish jets, which were not armed, were chased away by Greek aircraft in line with international regulations.

Turkey has ratcheted up tensions in the Aegean in recent weeks amid domestic upheaval and as Cyprus prepares to start offshore drilling for hydrocarbons.
