Suspicious package at Education Ministry turns out to be safe

Police bomb disposal experts were dispatched to the headquarters of the Education Ministry on Monday after officials reported finding a suspicious package on the premises.

Experts checked the parcel and determined that it contained no suspicious device or other contents that could be a cause for concern.

Police have been on alert since a parcel bomb exploded in the hands of former prime minister Lucas Papademos while he was in his car last month.

The former premier sustained serious injuries in the blast for which no group has yet claimed responsibility.
