Noor 1 convict testifies over alleged pressure

Former shipowner Efthymis Yiannousakis, who is serving a life sentence for drug trafficking, testified on Wednesday for more than three hours before an investigating magistrate in connection with the 2014 Noor 1 heroin-smuggling case.

Yiannousakis, who has claimed to have come under pressure to implicate shipowner Vangelis Marinakis in the affair, was moved from Attica’s Korydallos Prison to a Piraeus court amid tight security. He is to reappear in court Thursday in connection with his legal action against a coast guard officer and a prosecutor who he claims pressed him to implicate Marinakis.
