Car plunges into Piraeus port; driver safe

A 51-year-old motorist was pulled safely out of the water after his car plunged into the port of Piraeus, the ANA-MPA news agency reported on Thursday.

The unnamed man’s vehicle get went off the dock and into the water in the port area of Ietionas under circumstances that are still being investigated.

Crews were send from the port authority’s scuba mission, the EKAV ambulance unit and the fire department to save the man, who was eventually pulled out of the water safe and sound by a private craft helping in the rescue operation. His car was also retrieved from the water.
