4-year-old savaged by neighbor’s dog

A 4-year-old boy was in serious but stable condition in an Athens hospital yesterday after being savaged on Wednesday by a neighbor’s dog while playing in the front yard of his house. The attack, by a husky, took place in the early afternoon on Pendelis Avenue in Anthoussa, on the northeastern outskirts of Athens. The child had been playing on his own when the dog, which had escaped from a house at the end of Pendelis Avenue, jumped into the yard. His parents, who only realized what had happened when the boy started screaming, chased the dog off and took the 4-year-old to hospital with multiple bite wounds. The child was still in the Pendeli Children’s Hospital’s intensive-care unit yesterday. Police are seeking the dog’s owner, identified as Marios Plessas, 29, who made himself scarce after the attack.
