Rabble-rousers rapped for storming Spanish Embassy

A day after 18 members of the Rouvikonas (Rubicon) anarchist group entered the Spanish Embassy in Athens to protest the use of police violence in Catalonia, a court Thursday imposed suspended six-month prison sentences on them for disturbing the peace.

The suspects were also fined – 400 euros each – for refusing to be fingerprinted but they were cleared on additional charges of violent behavior.

In their testimony in court, the self-styled anarchists claimed that they had not committed any offenses but had staged a “political protest,” noting that the Spanish Embassy had not brought charges against them.
