Suspected soccer hooligans attack newspaper offices

Two journalists sustained light injuries on Sunday when around 10 people from a motorcade of some 30 or 40 motorcycles started smashing windows at the new offices of Ethnos, a daily paper recently purchased by businessman and soccer club owner Ivan Savvidis, on Athens’s Syngrou Avenue.

The assailants are thought to be supporters of a rival club.

The assailants threw stones at the building’s façade and red paint. Besides lightly injuring two journalists, they also damaged a parked car. They managed to flee the scene before the police arrived.

No arrests have been made.
