Six Italians detained over clashes following AEK-AC Milan match

Six Italian nationals, who were transferred to hospital late on Thursday for first aid treatment following clashes with Greek fans before a soccer match between AC Milan and AEK, have been detained in connection with clashes at the Pefkakia electric railway station, north of Athens.

The violence broke out when some 50 hooded Greek fans, armed with flares and wooden clubs, boarded an urban train carrying some 60 Italian fans at a station near the Europa League match venue.

Police said two carriages were damaged during the fighting on Thursday evening.
