UN envoy to meet with Greek, FYROM diplomats for name talks

Matthew Nimetz, the United Nations special mediator in negotiations aimed at resolving a longstanding dispute between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia regarding the latter's official name is scheduled to meet diplomats on November 20 and 21, according to FYROM'S Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

Nimetz will meet with Adamantios Vasilakis and Vasko Naumovski separately for talks, Zaev said late on Monday during a visit to Ljubljana.

Zaev said it was logical that, following his party's victory in local authority elections in FYROM last month, that a new effort should be launched to resolve the name dispute.

He added that efforts were underway to achieve national consensus on the issue, stressing that the aim was to find a solution, not postpone the problem.

He expressed his conviction that Greece and FYROM can cultivate friendly relations that will act as a catalyst for a solution to the name issue.
