One of six missing in western Attica floods found alive

Rescue crews working through the night to locate six people reported missing in deadly flooding in western Attica on Wednesday have saved a man who was trapped in his car.

According to the fire service, the man was found near his home in Aghios Ioannis in the seaside town of Mandra.

The search is now continuing for the other five, two of whom may be trapped under debris and mud in their homes.

Over 150 firemen have been dispatched to the towns of Mandra and New Peramos to look for casualties from the floods that claimed at least 15 lives on Wednesday, but also to pump water out of basements and clear houses, businesses and streets of thousands of tons of debris.
