Name of center-left grouping to be Movement for Change

The name of the new center-left party comprising PASOK, To Potami and other social democratic forces will be Movement for Change, it emerged on Tuesday following a meeting in Parliament between PASOK leader Fofi Gennimata and the head of Potami, Stavros Theodorakis.

The name will be in use until the grouping’s first congress, when it is expected that it will be rubber-stamped.

Gennimata said the new party wants to have a united voice.

During Monday’s debate in Parliament on the deal to sell arms to Saudi Arabia, Gennimata spoke on behalf of Potami’s parliamentary group, as well as that of Democratic Alignment, which is PASOK’s alliance with other center-left parties.

“Our aim is to make the Movement for Change a genuine movement for change in Greece,” said Theodorakis after Tuesday’s talks, which resulted in the two politicians agreeing that a committee should be formed to coordinate the work of the two groups of MPs.
