‘Lonely’ divorcé held for raping daughter

A divorced man from the Thracian town of Xanthi has been charged with repeated rape and incest for allegedly forcing his teenage daughter to have sex with him, a report said yesterday. According to the Athens News Agency, the 42-year-old suspect, Yiannis Foteas, told a Xanthi magistrate that he raped his 16-year-old daughter due to sexual frustration. «As I could not find myself a woman, why not sleep with my daughter?» the ANA quoted him as saying. Foteas was arrested after the girl, who had reportedly attempted suicide twice, told her mother, who went to the police. The man had been awarded custody of the girl and his 14-year-old son after his wife left him and remarried. On Monday, a farmer from the northern Peloponnese was charged with raping three of his six daughters, and killing one of the three babies that they bore him.
