An explosion in the early hours of Thursday morning caused serious damage to the Diamantidis furniture showroom on Kifissias Avenue in the Athens suburb of Maroussi but no injuries.
The blast, which occurred at 4 a.m. led to traffic in the Athens-bound lane being restricted for several hours. Apart from damaging the furniture store, the blast blew the windows out of adjacent buildings.
According to police sources, there was no warning telephone call ahead of the explosion.
No details were immediately available about the type of explosive device used nor the possible assailants.
Investigators were examining footage from the store's security camera which shows two people fleeing on a motorcycle seconds before the explosion.
