Police fire tear gas at protesters outside Education Ministry
Police used tear gas on Friday to disperse a group of protesters who tried to climb over a fence into the Education Ministry in the northern Athenian suburb of Maroussi.
A small group did, however, make it onto the premises, loudly demanding a meeting with the ministry's leadership before they were removed by riot police.
Some 1,000 educators from different parts of the country and students took part in the rally, which was organized in demand of permanent status being given to teachers and professors on fixed-term contracts.
