Unleaded petrol sells for 89.9 cents a liter at an Athens petrol station on Saturday, while ‘super’ high-octane fuel is priced at 94.9 cents. Yesterday, the government said it would push for a common European Union policy to allow a reduction in fuel taxes during periods of sharp rises in international oil prices. The matter will be debated at the next session of the European Commission.
