New fire breaks out northeast of Athens
As the capital's firefighting force was doing battle with a large wildfire in Kineta, west of Athens, a separate blaze broke out on Mount Penteli in the northeast on Monday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, the fire was on the border between Pikermi and Rafina, and was heading to the residential district of Dionysos, fanned by strong winds that are also hampering the firefighting effort in Kineta.
