Sending off…

Sending off the Olympic Flame on its five-continent tour before the Summer Olympics, Athens 2004 chief Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki holds up the lamp in which the flame will travel in a specially decorated Boeing 747. The flame, which was lit at Olympia on March 25, had burned at the Panathenaic Stadium since March 31. Sydney is the first international stop on a 75,300-km (46,761-mile) relay.
