Fake tax officer arrested for scamming elderly
A 63-year-old man was remanded in custody in Thessaloniki on Wednesday, accused of swindling 34 elderly people.
According to police, the man preyed on senior citizens by posing as a tax official.
He allegedly told them their relatives had been hospitalized and needed to pay medical bills. He made a reported profit of 6,860 euros.
