The planet Venus appears yesterday as a black dot crossing the face of the sun, in the first such transit since December 6, 1882. The rare celestial phenomenon was visible throughout Greece between 8.20 a.m. and 2.23 p.m. Hundreds of people flocked to observatories in Athens and Thessaloniki to watch the event through telescopes.
